So long....farewell?????

I started my last post back in January.  This is what I had started:

Trust me, I am really REALLY aware that I am severely lacking in updating this blog. I have no problem updating my personal/running blog, She Runs Everywhere, on a very regular basis.  Of course, the blogs serve two completely different purposes.  I know there are a few of you who are still checking in on this blog (and I thank you), but the main person whom I consistently blogged for is no longer with us.

I really wanted to finish my thoughts on that, especially since I knew that we were getting ready to take a big vacation and it seemed like a good time to say what I've been thinking.  That being, that I think it's time to call it quits on this blog.  I don't really like to word quit, most know I'm not quitter.  But who am I kidding.  My blogging (on this blog) has slowly, but surely come to a grinding halt.  Yes, I know that there are a few others of you who still check in, but I never realized how much I was updating this for Papa Jim who lived in California.

I feel we had a good run.  A little over 5 years ago I ventured into this thing called blogging.  It was also at the same time that I joined facebook.  Wow, have the two ever changed in the last 5 years!!  Even without the events of losing Papa Jim I didn't blog as much as when I first started and started to rely more on facebook to keep in touch with people, post pictures, talk about the events of our lives.

In general I've moved into a slacking sort of state when it comes to communication.  I used to get and send kid/family pictures on a regular basis.  I was practically religious about sending out an end of the year/Christmas letter.  Now....meeeh, I think about it & I want to get it done, but they just don't happen.  I'm ok with this in the sense that it's not the end of the world.  I let go of those ocd-ish tendencies.  It seems a lot of society has let some of these things go too.  The lack of letter writing, keeping in touch, sending pictures, or birthday cards.  I held onto it much longer than most that I know.  There are plenty of thoughts and reasons why this has happened.  I do know that we've entered a very busy and demanding time in our lives.  So many thought we were "busy crazy" with (at that time) 4 kids under the age of 5.  Oh, but how much simpler it was when they were little!!!!  Adding the last 2 was no big deal either.  I can handle all of that.  As they all got older and more involved....that is what changed, that is what has made the biggest difference.  If you ask any of our kids there is so much they still want to do, but we say no.  We limit them & their activities, yet we are busy crazy!!

Yes, I devote a lot more time to my running and in turn my running blog.  It seems right & natural.  Not that there is anything "wrong" with this blog or me having two.  For now, it just seems it's time to let this one go.  I'm not going to shut it down.  It will still be here floating out in cyber space.  I will add a subscribe button, that way if you enter your email address and I DO post something, you will get an email telling you about that post.  I won't feel near as guilty for the few of you who do keep checking back from time to time to find nothing updated.  I encourage you to connect with me other ways.  Follow my running blog (link is above), friend me on fb, send me an email, call me, text me (I'm a huge texter).  If you need my phone number or private email address let me know.  Barring any freak-o stalkers I'd love to stay connected with you in one of many other ways that better suits me and you.  For now (and I seriously am tearing up now) I will bid you farewell, maybe temporarily, or maybe forever on the Peterson Family blog.
